The Four Kinds of Wisdom
By Rev. Eve Kiara
Wisdom simply defined is the philosophy of life. It is also the information or knowledge you have that you can apply in your practical life to help you make decisions and act in a certain way.
18 For the [g]message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the [h]disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (1 Cor. 1:18-20, NKJV)
The first kind of wisdom is the wisdom of the world. This includes science , psychology etc.; that which is gained over a period of time. When people are pursuing their post graduate degrees, they are required to write a thesis. As part of the thesis they have to do a literature review where they review the knowledge that has been built over a period of time about a given topic. This is an example of the wisdom of the world.
Back in our days, if you were to give birth via a CS, you only had black tea for the seven days leading to the surgery. This is because the body of knowledge at that time was not as advanced as it is in our modern times where you can start eating even a day after the Caesarian section.
The wisdom of the world is always evolving and thus cannot be relied upon.
