10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10, NKJV)
John 10:10 is a familar verse to all of us. In fact, we have time and time again professed and proclaimed this to be our reality. Unfortunately, very few beleivers in the modern church have truly attained the abundant life that Christ was talking about.
The word Zoe here is greek for the God kind of life. It can also refer to eternal life or divine life. I want to call your attention to the fact that Jesus himself says that he came to give us this kind of eternal life From the scripture above, you realise that he did not come to give us that life in portions or in limits, he came so that we may have that life in abundance.
Unfortunately, the lives of many believers today do not reflect the abundant life. Instead, most believers live the kind of life depicted in Isaiah 42:22.
But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are [a]snared in holes, And they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, “Restore!” (NKJV).
My prayer for every believer is that they may desire to have the kind of life that Jesus was talking about; the Zoe life.
