God’s plan is His divine will and purpose for nations, individuals, and creation. Psalm 139:16 states, “Your eyes saw my substance, being unformed. And in Your book, they all were written, the days fashioned for me, When there were none yet.” Thus, God planned us. He planned our lives before we came into existence. He knew us before creating us. As Jeremiah 1:5 depicts, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.’
ALIGNING TO GOD’S PLAN
Aligning to God’s plan will require us to.
- Stay in Prayer: Prayer helps us discover God’s plan in our lives. In 1st Thessalonians 5:17, we are urged to keep on praying. Similarly, in 1st Samuel 1:7, Hannah kept praying; though she was barren, she prayed almost all her life, asking God to bless her with a son. She aligned with God’s plan as God answered her prayer.
- Have Faith: Faith in God helps us believe in God’s plan and understand it. Hebrews 11:1 states, ‘Now faith is the substance of things hoped for…’ which means that faith is present and is the evidence of what we hope for.
- Seek God’s Will: Isaiah 55:6 prompts us to seek the Lord while He may be found and to call upon Him while He is near. It is important to note that when we seek God’s will, we automatically know God’s plan.
- Be Patient: We should trust the time God will give us something. As James 5:7-8 postulates, “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits patiently for the earth’s precious fruit until it receives the early and later rain. 8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord [a]is at hand.” The excerpt showcases that God is our farmer. He waits for us to bear fruit; all he wants is for us to align with His plans.
- Be Obedient: In Deuteronomy 28:1-2, God told Abraham to leave His father’s household. He did obey God’s instruction. On the other hand, Jonah disobeyed God’s instruction and was swallowed by the big fish. Because of God’s grace, Jonah was still alive in the fish’s belly and wasn’t digested. God wanted Jonah to obey him and preach the word. Besides, although Job was obedient to God, he lost everything. He had boils all over his body, yet he aligned with God’s plan.
Furthermore, Adam disobeyed when he ate the forbidden fruit. Notably, when Eve ate the fruit, there wasn’t any issue. However, when Adam, “the covenant carrier,” ate the fruit, man became alienated from God because of his disobedience. On the contrary, Abraham obeyed God, and from him came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. Moreover, Mary was a good role model. She was patient, and she remained a virgin. Both Joseph and Mary obeyed God’s instructions. It is important to note that, just like Jonah, we will always come back to God’s plan no matter what, and thus, staying in obedience is paramount.
In conclusion, aligning with God’s plan assures us of fruitfulness. Importantly, God’s plan is for the good of the people, not for evil.
