Hindrances to our faith, why we do not continue in our faith

By Pst. James Kimathi
Firstly, it is essential to note that believing in Jesus is a daily
occurrence (Colossians 2:6 & Galatians 3:2-3). We must begin believing
in God for our healing and walking with God from a place of faith, faith
that is just as it was when we first believed in Jesus Christ.

Hindrances to our Faith
- The primary hindrance to our faith is the consciousness of societal norms, practices, and patterns. For instance, we tend to be more conscious of what society will say and more careful in upholding these norms, practices, and patterns. With such consciousness, we are unable to receive from God.
- Seeking convenience is also a hindrance to our faith. We do not want to be inconvenienced by spending too much time on prayer. We want to utilize our time for other things, especially those that excite us, such as watching TV. For example, we feel inconvenienced by spending three hours praying for our sick child, while on the other hand, it will appear to us easier to wait in the queue for three hours for our child to be admitted to the hospital.
"It is paramount to note that we are not only justified by faith but also supposed to live by faith"
- It is crucial to note that, regarding the challenges we face, God wants to strengthen our faith as we utilize our time in prayer.
- The small exercises of faith in sicknesses, health, and provision will strengthen us for bigger things.
- In the spiritual realm, may we stop approaching the devil with flaccid muscles, which will not scare him. Instead, let’s approach him with sturdy, resilient, and inflexible muscles.
- It is also important to note that sometimes, our faith does not need to be strong but just genuine. If we are genuine in our faith, God will walk with us on the journey of faith. God is asking us to work our faith and salvation with fear and trembling. James 1:2-3 states, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
- The most important thing we should do before thinking about our problems is to examine our faith.
- If we are still chained to people’s thoughts about us, we have not yet died to self. This is because if we are practitioners of faith, people’s opinions will become meaningless.
- Sometimes, though we have trusted God for so many years, it becomes pretty hard to trust Him in the 11th hour because we are on the verge of our breakthrough. Thus, until our faith has been made our sight, we can approach the next level of engagement.
- It is the highest time we hate conveniences and false comforts and instead take time to pray.
- This year, may God bring us to a place where our faith does not crumble. As stated in Romans 1:17, ‘… in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
In conclusion, it is paramount to note that we are not only justified by faith but also supposed to live by faith, eliminating all types of sin. Also, being afraid of detaching ourselves from depending on God, acknowledging that we are not only justified by faith, but the just shall live by faith.
