Many times when we find ourselves in difficult situations, we expect that help will come from outisde and yet God has deposited power within us to overcome every situation that we find ourselves in. However, our failure to recognize or make use of the power given to us by God is because the devil has ways through which he weakens this power that is within us.
The first Chapter of Exodus talks about the slavery and harsh working conditions that the children of Israel found themselves in working for the Pharaoh and the different strategies the Pharaoh used to weaken them. Interestingly, these are the same strategies that the devil uses even today.
The first of these strategies is the battle against conception.
12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites 13 and worked them ruthlessly. 14 They made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly (Ex. 1:12-14, NKJV).
The Pharaoh subjected the men of Israel to extremely hard and time consuming labor so that they were unable to sire children.
In a similar manner, the devil in modern times keeps Christians so busy with so many things so that they are unable to conceive in theri spiritual wombs anything that is of God.
Prayer: Our dear father, we pray that you may free us from any busyness and task masters that prevent us from conceiving and bearing fruit in our walk with you. Amen
