The 3 spiritual laws (contd.)

The three spiritual laws

By Pastor James Kimathi

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.(Rom. 7:5, NKJV).

Notice that once sin has been aroused by the law in us, as mentioned in the scripture above, it also takes advantage of the law to cause death. When the Bible talks about death in the scripture above, it is not reffering to physical death but rather, separation from God.

As a believer, you must understand that the sinful nature is from the devil and that the goal of the devil has always been to separate the believer from God.

But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died (Rom. 7:8-9, NKJV).

One of the signs of a dead believer is that they lack enthusiasm for the things of God. Death occurs when the the sinful nature leads you to the works of sin and by so doing, you become condemned in the face of the law.

The result is that you are unable to relate with God and his life cannot be dispensed in you and through you. You also cannot come confidently before God because your conscience is already defeated. Unfortunately, a defeated conscience results to doubt and unbelief and we know that anyone with doubt cannot receive anything from the Lord.

This is why we have so many christians who are living a defeated life despite possessing knowlegde of God’s word. This is also the reason why some believers cannot pray.
