Another role of fire that we see in the scriptures is that it reveals what an element is made of.
22 Gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, lead 23 and anything else that can withstand fire must be put through the fire, and then it will be clean. But it must also be purified with the water of cleansing. And whatever cannot withstand fire must be put through that water (Num. 31:22-23, NIV)
12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work (1 Cor. 3: 12-13, NIV)
As is stated in the verse above from Second Corinthians, it is when you go through a fire that the state of your faith is revealed. May you be people that can withstand fire and come out strongly on the other side.
The other use of fire is it is a source of power and energy.Â
As fire burns brushwood, As fire causes water to boil— To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence! (Isa. 64:2, NKJV).
When you want to cook in your house, you must light a fire. Similarly when you want to light up a place, you switch on your bulb. Bulbs work by heating a thin filament in them to produce light. Fire must be present in any situation that requires energy.
My prayer is that there will be such a fire within us that will cause internal movemnts and stir us up for the things of God.
