The Abundant Life (God’s original plan)

The Abundant Life (God's original plan)

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (John 10:10, NKJV)

I want you to picture this scenario. The President of the republic of Kenya invites you to the State House. You honor the invite but on getting there, you sit in the lobby admiring your sorroundings, without actually walking in to see the President despite the fact that he is waiting for you. You would be in State House but never met the President, never actually enjoyed any benefits that meeting him might have proided you.

In the last post, I said that when you find yourself in a space that is devoid of the abundant life, you start by checking whether you have accepeted the reconciliation ministry of Christ. However, I submit it to you that it is possible to be in God’s kingdom and yet not enjoy the benefits it has to offer.

As a believer, you must know that the devil is completely opposed to you accepting the ministry of reconciliation. He wants you to remain an enemy of God. Even when you finally accept the work of the cross and start walking with God, he still does not stop. One of the greatest startegies of the enemy against the modern day believer is to ensure that though believers are in the kingdom, they do not enjoy the abundant life. The devil decides that okay, these people have come to church but I will ensure they are sleepy the entire time, or I will ensure they are extremely tired on Saturday or I will throw a religious Spirit upon them…That way you are like the person invited to state house that never meets the president, you can see the Kingdom of God but you never receive it and you never enter.

I have realised that some times we fail to accept the truth of the word of God because it appears too high for our minds to comprehend. Unfortunately we conform to the patterns of the world-the very thing that Paul warns against in Romans 12. The patterns of the world are the futilities we mentioned earlier; sickenesses, lack e.t.c. This is unfortunately, the reason why the human race has been reduced to chasing after basic needs, a stark contrast to God’s original plan. Why would you beg and struggle to get food yet you are a child of the King? It is a disgrace to the King! For a child of God who is already born again to live a life other than what God intended means that probably they are misaligned.

The Bible in Matthew 7 tells us to seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness. When you accept Christ, you don’t stop there, you also pursue righteousness (a right standing with God). When you are aligned, it’s the pride of the King to provide for you. Is it as easy as it sounds? No. Rather, it’s a journey of receiving the word of God, internalizing it and letting it work within you to produce change. You must allow the word of God to renew you from the inside out or you will not see any change.

As a believer, you must live in so much health until people get healed just by being around you. You must confess the word of God until it becomes flesh in your life.

The Bible says that creation is eagerly awaiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. You cannot afford to give up because the ministry of reconciliation was handed to us. It is up to us to reconcile creation to its maker.
