The Abundant Life (God's original plan)
By Min. MaryAnne Kamau
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (John 10:10, NKJV)
We are still trying to understand the extent of the fall of man. We saw yesterday that when man decided to seperate himself from the umbrella of God, he lost the privileges that he earlier enjoyed in the garden of Eden. Even more unfortunate was the fact that because of his actions sin entered the world.
The other thing we see is that corruption entered an otherwise perfect world and creation was subjected to futility. The dictionary defines futility as a state of being ineffective or useless. Thus the weight of sin caused there to be uselessness and ineffectiveness. Like I had mentioned in an earlier post, if we can understand how God intended things to be in the beginning we would not settle for a less. We would desire whole heartedly to live in the baundant life that the Lord intended for us from the beginning. There already is something in each one of us that refuses to accept a life that is less than what God intended. This is why people suffer from depression and anxiety. However, none of us has the ability to save ourselves.
God was aware of this fact and thus even though he was displeased with man for his actions, he quickly came up with a plan for man’s redemption.
