The prospect of leading an abundant life is no doubt exciting to everyone of us. As a result, we quote and profess and declare John 10:10 a lot but do we understand what it means to lead an abundant or overflowing life?
The Bible in Mathew 7:7 talks about asking, seeking and knocking. I am a strong believer that what you do not seek you do not find. In that line what you do not seek to understand, you will not understand. Therefore, it is important to seek the scriptures so that we understand what it means to have or lead an abundant life.
I love going back to the beginning because i want to understand the original plan of God towards something and the matter of the overflowing or the abundant life is no exception.
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [a]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that [b]moves on the earth.” (Gen. 1:26-28, NKJV)
From the above text in Genesis, the original intent of God was to have man rule or have dominion over all creation. In other words, God intended that as it is in Heaven, so shall it be on earth. For that reason, he created Adam and put him on earth and bestowed upon him authority so that he (Adam) could do on earth, what God does in heaven. In fact, when you read the book of Romans, there is a verse that says that Adam was a type of Christ. He was a son of God and his work was to replicate what happens in heaven; the fruitfulness the multiplication, the increase, the governance, the influence, and the Dominion.
Before going further, i want to pose a question to you. Does your life reflect the original plan of or intent of God? Do you have dominion in the spheres you find yourself
