Unveiling God's Reward: A Journey of Faithfulness
9 But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. 10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and [a]labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Heb. 6: 9-12, NKJV).
Have you ever paused, in your day-to-day life, to think about the depth of God’s concern for your actions? The Bible affirms that not only does God pay heed to our actions but that he rewards us accordingly. The scriptures in Revelation 3:8-12 are proof that our actions provoke God to do something for us in return.
7 “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. 9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. 10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown (NIV)
Our faithfulness in keeping God’s word and our steadfastness in upholding his truth do not go unnoticed. It is these very actions that provoke him to reward us by keeping us. On the other hand, if you let go of your faith and of the promises of God, you miss his reward for you.
As we journey through the month of March, keep professing that it is your month of reward, that it is the year of the open door, that you will enjoy divine mercy and protection, that you will sing the song of the Lord and that you will enjoy enlargement. Just as the Lord visited the church of Philadelphia, he is going to visit you. As a result, you must hold fast to his word to ensure you don’t miss your reward.
