Divine Protection: God’s kind of Spiritual Warfare
14 In righteousness you will be established:
Tyranny will be far from you;
you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed;
it will not come near you.
15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
whoever attacks you will surrender to you.
16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith
who fans the coals into flame
and forges a weapon fit for its work.
And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;
17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and this is their vindication from me,”
declares the Lord. (Isa. 54: 14-17, NIV)
Have you ever considered the mindset of a deployed soldier? Amidst the chaos of the battlefield, their thoughts often revolve around executing military strategies and ensuring the safety of their comrades. Rarely, will they stop to worry about their families’ basic needs like food and shelter because in countries with good governance, governments take care of those needs so that the soldiers can focus on the mission.
Isaiah 54 carries the promise of divine protection for believers. The LORD himself has promised to fight his people’s battles. However, this is also dependent on the believer’s willingness and commitment to fight the LORD’s battles appointed by God. Like a government caring for its soldiers’ families, God promises to meet our needs as we engage in His battles.
Unfortunately, some people, because they are too accustomed to fighting their own battles, fail to grasp this truth and behave like the children of Israel who despite seeing the mighty hand of God at work, desired the graves and melons of Egypt.
One of the ways to tell that you are indeed fighting the battle of the Lord is when your prayer language changes and you begin fighting for the truth in the word of God.
As the second month of the year comes to a close, ask yourself; ‘Whose battle am I fighting?’
